Redfish Events support Westbury Lions Club
Westbury Lions Club received a donation of £200 at their January business meeting, thanks to Redfish Events and Leighton Recreation Centre with their Christmas 3k Fun Run held in December in aid of the charity.
The event was very nearly cancelled after snowfall overnight and then heavy rain and hail on the morning of the run, but on checking the conditions with the Leighton team the decision was taken to allow it to proceed. Despite the poor weather over 80 people took part in the event, with all competitors determined to finish the race even after being offered the chance to skip laps!
Presenting the cheque were Tracey Hyde and Adam Firks of Redfish Events, along with Keith Brunsden and Anne Egerton of Leighton Recreation Centre. On presenting the cheque, Adam said ”It is our pleasure to support Westbury Lions in this way as we know that all of the money raised by our event will be used in welfare cases throughout the community.“
Lion President Angie Fawcett also praised the event, saying “It gives everyone a chance to give something back while having fun and getting a bit of exercise at the same time! We are so grateful to the Redfish team and also everybody at Leighton Recreation Centre for their help in ensuring the event was a huge success, despite the poor weather.”
A special presentation was also made for Lion Kevin Peters, who managed to do a lap of the course dressed as Rudolph. Westbury Lions are already making plans for him to complete the full event in costume next time!
