Presidents Handover Barbeque – July 2012
Westbury Lions met on Sunday 8th July to celebrate the annual handover of presidential duties.
This year, Lion David Firth has taken the reins from Lion Peter Baker, who has successfully completed his first term as Club President. In his summary of his year in charge, Peter said “During the past year we started a new annual fund raising event – the 10K Run – which was a great success for the club with over 60 runners taking part. I have also been lucky enough to be the only Lion President to date to preside over 2 Donkey Derbys, and I am pleased to say that the 1st July event was a great success, despite the weather, bringing in over £2100 for distribution to local charities and needy individuals.”
For Lion David Firth, this will be his 5th time as President of Westbury Lions! Having been a very active member of Lions Clubs both at a local and national level for over 30 years, his experience ensures the club will remain in good hands moving forward.
After presenting Peter with his Past Presidents Medal and pin badge, David thanked all members for their recent hard work at the Donkey Derby, and praised everyone for making the day a memorable one for all who attended. He also thanked the 5 new members who have settled in so well, all of whom have been contributing a great deal to club activities. With the 10K Run coming up, they will be kept on their toes!
Westbury Lions are always on the lookout for new members, young and old alike! If you would like more information on what we do, please contact Mike Pearce on 01373 302956.
