Peace Poster Competition – Westbury Entries

Each year, Lions clubs around the world proudly sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. This art contest for children encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace.

During the last 20 years, more than four million children from nearly 100 countries have participated in the contest!

Twenty-four international finalists are selected each year, representing the work of more than 350,000 young participants worldwide. Posters advance through several judging levels: local, district, multiple district and international. At the international level, judges from the art, peace, youth, education and media communities select one grand prize winner and 23 merit award winners.

Westbury Lions club approached local schools this year for entries to submit for our district judging panel.

While our entries didn’t proceed further into the competition this year, we are still pleased to announce the winning artwork which was submitted by our talented young artists in the town.

In the 7-8 age category, our members selected the dove painting by Miss Charlie Hemmens, while in the age 9-10 category we were pleased to select the Rainbow poster by Miss Shania Upton – both winning paintings can be viewed by clicking the thumbnails below.

Finalists in both categories for Westburys entries were:

Age 7-8 category: 1st Miss Charlie Hemmens, 2nd Miss Rebecca Kearney, 3rd Miss Alice Wain

Age 9-10 Category: 1st Miss Shania Upton, 2nd Miss Sophie Parker, 3rd Miss Hannah Kerley

Thank you to everyone who took part this year! Read more about the Peace Poster Contest here.
