Christmas Float Report – 2016

Christmas Float Report – 2016

We have now come to the end of our Christmas Float collections this year, and it has been a manic one!  We have been out every night since 1st December, visiting every street we can access with Santa, his sleigh, our volunteer collectors and our Christmassy tunes.  By our reckoning, we have probably knocked on the doors of around 6000 homes, checking to see if anyone wants to come out and meet Santa!  Thankfully we have a lot of volunteers who help our members do this door knocking, otherwise there would be a fair few sore knuckles among the membership!  We have had a truly wonderful time seeing you all and sharing the excitement with your families as we have knocked on literally thousands of doors in and around the town.

With your help we have raised over £5000 to support community projects and families in need over the next 12 months!

We really couldn’t have made it round all those houses this year without the help of a lot of people, so lets try and thank them here:

  • Westbury Rangers for providing support with collectors on nights where our own volunteers were not available
  • Westbury Air Training Corps (68 Squadron) for the loan of their minibus
  • Matt at Hire Standards for lending us a generator to light the float for the month
  • Rob Fawcett for lending his MP3 player after our own broke down
  • All the extra volunteers who helped us each night – too many to name but we hope you know who you are!

From all of our members, Merry Christmas to you and we wish you a very happy new year!
