Social Events & Activities

The social side of being a Lion is almost as important as the serving side!  Social events are organised by our Admin Committee, and various functions are prepared for our members throughout the club year.

One of the most important social events for the club is the Annual charter.  This is a celebration of the founding of the club (in our case, 1973) where members from both Westbury Lions and other clubs get together in black tie and ballgown for a dinner and entertainment.  These nights are usually attended by over 80 guests, and are a great way for members to relax and have fun, and celebrate all of the hard work put in.

Another regular event is our presidential handover barbeque, usually held in July/August, which allows members and families to enjoy the summer sunshine.  Members all get involved in cooking, food preparation to ensure the day goes well for all!

Our Christmas Dinner usually comes at the end of the collection period in the run-up to Christmas, and is always welcome after a busy schedule ferrying Father Christmas around the town!

Other activities include days out (we have enjoyed trips to the theatre, Salisbury Races and trips along the Kennet and Avon Canal) and social evenings held at local venues in Westbury.

Above all, after the hard work of fundraising is done, we all like to unwind over a drink, good conversation and great company!
